The Captivate Artist Workshops are movement and acting courses run regularly, with a different focus for each course. In the past these have ranged from Slapstick and Clowning, to tai chi, to Ballet for Actors.
The sessions are created to expand your skill base and repertoire of techniques, develop your adaptability as a performing artist, and unlock more of your performance potential. They will also help maintain your condition as a physical artist in terms of fitness and control.
In short – they give you more skills, greater performance longevity and overall increased opportunity to work.

Classes range from Stage Combat to Dance, Movement, Martial Arts, Clowning, Physical Theatre, Acting Technique, Acrobatics and other more niche or specialist fields. The skills you learn will enhance your performance for any medium, although we do keep a particular eye on how they apply to motion capture.
Workshops frequently bring in noted guest tutors, as well as featuring our own specialist Captivate Directors.
Dates: Saturday evenings, 27th May to 1st July 2016
Times: 6:30pm to 8:30pm
Location: Melbourne, Australia Dancehouse, Carlton.
What is it?: Leading ballet practitioner Kyle Davey will explore the bio-mechanics and movement concepts associated with ballet, as can be drawn into work as an actor and physical performer – whether for direct use in physical theatre, movement pieces, character creation or gesture; or simply to gain a greater understanding and range of your body as a performance tool.
